not a case of his and hers

Justin and I were discussing whether we want to find out the sex of the baby last night over his birthday dinner... I didn't want to know and today I still want it to be a surprise. Justin really wants to know, which is bizarre because he's usually indifferent towards things like this. I'm not sure if it's because I've been doing PR for a few years but I feel like I was doing a good job of pitching why we should wait to find out and thought I was really getting through and might get my way on this one. Then Justin, reaching so far to make a point, starts bringing up things we won't be able to get done before the baby is born:

Justin: You won't be able to buy all the clothes you'd want
Dana: I know, it would be annoying
Justin: It will be harder for you to figure out which nursery you'd want
Dana: I know
Justin: We wouldn't be able to stock up on diapers...
Dana: *silence*
Justin: We'd have to go get them after the baby is born
Dana: What are you talking about?
Justin: *silence*
Dana: OH MY GOSH you think baby boys and girls wear different diapers?!
Justin: (laughing and clearly embarrassed) They don't?!
Dana: (can't actually say anything because I doubled over laughing)

our poor child, it probably doesn't stand much of a chance. I'm going to look for a Daddy Bootcamp immediately--and make sure he takes notes because I know more than Justin, but barely and I'm way too proud to go to a class to teach me things my motherly instinct should eventually let me know...

my own And1

Baby Bail is on the way!!

Justin and I found out a couple months ago that we're expecting Baby Bail on May 8, 2008! We've basically been trying for almost an entire year so to say that we were ecstactic would be putting it lightly! As thrilled as we are though, the look on J's face in this picture depicts pretty well all the other feelings running through our heads, haha! Everyone keeps saying that there's this motherly instinct that just kicks in and I'll know what to do, I'm praying I get extra of that though, because I don't want to mess this up! (I've also had a brief conversation with God that I'll only get a basketball belly and big no where else, and that labor is as easy as sneezing and it will simply fall out...)

I'm at 12 weeks now and if it weren't for the four positive pregnancy tests, a few doctor's appointments, an ultra sound and actually filling out my bra now, I wouldn't know I was pregnant. As I understand I've had it pretty easy so far. I was nauseous a little in the very beginning but never threw up and haven't had any morning sickness. Now that I'm through my first trimester, as I understand, I should be in the clear. YAY! It does make me nervous though that it's so easy now that it's going to be a disaster later.

I change my mind basically every day if I want to find out the sex before the due date. Today I don't want to know, but I'm such a control freak and planner I don't see how I can not know. Justin I think wants to know the sex, but I think it would be such a cool surprise to wait. We'll see I guess, for now we're both feeling so incredibly blessed!

and the winner is...

One of my coworkers has no faith and made a bet with me that the Rockies would be out in the first series of the playoffs. foolish. The deal was that if the world ends and somehow the Rockies lost, he got to make a collage of all the headlines of them losing and the Phillys winning and it had to stay as my desktop wallpaper for a month. If (more accurately when) the Rockies won I got to decorate his desk as Rox fan central and he'd have to keep it up throughout playoffs. Obviously we swept them, and are on our way toward winning the division championship--best part is there's a chance that we'll play the Indians in the World Series, and according to the bet, all things purple have to remain up!

at some point I really do plan to carrying on life as usual without being completely consumed by a sports team... at least until November when Cavs season starts. If it weren't so exciting, it would be exhausting.

It's Rocktober!

I have never gone home for such a whirlwind weekend since I've moved from Colorado--but it was simply amazing! It was awesome to go home on a whim and see friends and family that I wasn't necessarily planning on seeing until I came home for a visit sometime next year. If it weren't for the completely and absolutely phenominal game and experience, that would have been my favorite part.

The Rockies game was INCREDIBLE! Whenever someone asked me how it was all I can do is repeat "incredible". Working with the Cavs I've been around the excitement of playoffs and the thrill of victory, but that was more of a spectator because I'd only been cheering for this team for a few years. So when the same thing was happening for my favorite team ever it was so much sweeter! Our seats weren't that great, but everyone we were surrounded by was so much fun, by the end of the night we were high-fiving and hugging like we've been best friends for years! I couldn't fall asleep that night because I was so excited and then I started thinking about how the Rockies could potentially play the Cleveland Indians in the World Series and I'd get to see my men in purple play again!!

I would love to act humble, but it was no suprise how many people loved our sign! We got stopped throughout the game for people to take a picture of it or with it. We even made it on the jumbotron, yeah we're those girls! haha!

Real Men Wear Purple

I'm a little ashamed that I've had this fantastic new blog for almost an entire month and I haven't posted anything. When I saw I had a missed call from Jenn (my friend who was generous enough to get this blog design for me!) I was almost certain she was going to take it back! For every journal and diary I've ever had from six years-old on had to have this thoughtful and weighted first entry so if it's ever found and needs to be published like Anne Frank's, they'll be impressed from the start... some call me dramatic, I don't know where they get that. haha!

Enough waiting though, I can't think of a better reason to post then to brag and cheer that my favorite team in the entire world (all sports included, which is no small feat because I'm a sports fanatic!) just made it to the playoffs for the first time since 1995--and the best part is I think we'll actually do really well! The Rockies won 12 of 13 to make it to an all-or-nothing-do-or-die game against the Padres to get the Wild Card and make it to playoffs. It's lonely being the only Rockies fan in Ohio, but I did 'Rado proud and lost my voice by the 3rd inning and stayed up for the entire five hour 13 inning emotionally-exhausting victory! WE'RE GOING TO PLAYOFFS!! It gets better, I'm going home for the first home game! My friend Mandy was generous enough to give me some of their frequent flier miles so I'm going to be home for a whirlwind 48 hour weekend trip to cheer on my men in purple! For those of you curious, here's what we look like when we're ridiculously stoked that we've just made it to playoffs:
